In the first of a series of posts on wardrobe staples, I dissect one of my favourites: the chambray shirt.
Chambray is an undeniable mainstay in my closet, whether it be in a light wash, mid-blue, or dark chambray (as pictured above). Not to mention the outfit possibilities are endless. Of course, while a chambray shirt works perfectly with a casual ensemble (think: white skinny jeans and sneakers) it also downplays an otherwise dressy look (think: a silk skirt or (p)leather leggings with heels).
It’s also one of those great transition pieces that works equally well in warm and cool climates – throw it over a bathing suit for a day at the beach in the summer and under a blazer or cardigan during the dead of winter. I don’t know about you, but I am all for clothing items that do double (and triple) duty, and the chambray shirt is the perfect embodiment of that.
