With the holidays fast approaching, entertaining season will soon be in full swing. Of course, having a well stocked bar is key when entertaining family and friends, but it can be challenging to carve out a dedicated bar area year-round. While bar carts may be the instinctual choice, they can take up prime real estate in an already tight space. Luckily there are a number of other ways you can create a striking and effective bar area. Here are three bar cart alternatives that take up minimal real estate in your house, but offer the same visual impact:
A console in a living or dining room is the perfect perch to place drinks and glassware when entertaining. Place a tray on top with your preferred drinks, glassware and cocktail accessories, and you’ll be well on your way to looking like a professional bartender in no time at all!
Similarly, a bookcase can do double duty as an entertaining hot spot. Remove books from one shelf and replace them with liquor and glasses – you’ll be ready for anything the night throws at you once your guests arrive.
3. Kitchen Counter
Really tight on space? Why not dedicate one corner of your kitchen counter (or island) to serving kir royales (a favourite holiday cocktail of mine) and other preferred hostess drinks? The space required is little to none (place your toaster or blender in storage for the night, if needed) and get to mixing drinks stat!
