Coffee Table Books
Home decor, fashion, art. Whatever genre you may fancy, a few coffee table books stacked on your table instantly adds depth and elevates the look. I’m currently displaying this great interior decor book by Kelly Hoppen. I highly recommend!
A votive or two are all you need to cast a warm glow and add ambience while watching tv or reading a book in the evening, especially important in the cold winter months. Bonus if the candles have a subtle scent! I’m partial to peachy scented ones from IKEA right now. Place them in pretty glass votive holders (mine are from Finnish brand Iittala) for a tres chic vibe.
Here, I’ve placed a glass coaster to protect my table from spillage (note: it’s actually a candle dish but I love using it as a coaster. I even have extras I use for the likes of soap and jewellery – it really is a multifunctional piece!). Having guests over? Add an extra coaster or two so you don’t have to fret about drink rings left behind on your table.
Flowers (or a Plant)
Add some life to your coffee table with a flower or plant. Whether you like peonies, hydrangeas or some sprigs of eucalyptus (a real winner in the winter months), this will add some freshness to your space. You can’t go wrong with real, fresh flowers, but faux will work too (I’ve actually placed a faux bloom on my table at the moment, but plan on replacing it with some fresh greenery soon).
Add some whimsy through one or two unexpected objets. Here, I’ve added some mixed metals and materials, with a brass hand tray (bonus: it serves as a place to set down my watch/bracelet after a long day while I’m unwinding on the couch), a magnifying glass over my coffee table books (this has taken pride of place in almost all of my apartments to date and thus holds sentimental value), and a candle snuffer (this is practical to boot – yes, I’m actually one of those people who regularly uses a candle snuffer!). The mix is a bit quirky, unique, and adds a multi-dimensional layer to my table. Try picking out something unique from your own home for a look that’s completely original to you.
